Each
single thing around us, no matter where we are, has a flip side to look at.
Some look at one side of the coin, whereas some choose to have a look at the
other side. It is one’s own individual way of having his or her point of view
about any specific subject matter. It is up to one’s own will and wish as to
which side of the subject matter they wish to look upon, but this is what my
opinion is that the more one chooses to look at the positive side of things,
the more life becomes simple, easy and interesting. It can definitely not be
ruled out that though a thing will be having a positive side, there will be no
negative side to it; but having a view point about any subject matter with
optimism is the key to succeed in life, and that, at the least, has held to be
true for me, as per the various experiences I have had in my life.
Since
the days of my childhood, I have always been fascinated towards water. I always
liked the idea of playing by the beach, or having stops by riversides when Dad
used to take us for road-trips, but an unfortunate incident in those early days
of my life turned me into a person who started fearing water or rather say,
large water bodies, like swimming pools, rivers or seas etc. At a point of
time, this fear grew within me, so much so, that when my whole family decided
to go on to a week-long super luxurious cruise holiday, I decided to stay back
at home, which is pretty much a contradiction of the general behaviour, as to
who will ever not be wanting to go on a cruise holiday, and that too of that
sort, at all!
Time
passed, and with it, surroundings also changed. Our family got to relocate to a
new city, a new house, a new society, and around new people. Our new society,
where we shifted to, had an in-house swimming pool, where, I would go every
evening, sit by it, and just see other people enjoying their time in the water.
Some little kids used to play and giggle in the water whilst enjoying their
time, whereas others used to give themselves relief from the scorching heat of
the city. For some, it was more like a workout regime to stay fit, and some of
them used to come there to be trained to swim, either out of hobby or out of
their training for pursuing it up professionally. And on one such day, the
coach who used to train the people there, came across me and asked that though I
am a regular at the pool but why is that I do not jump in to the water, and
upon learning that I am a hydrophobic, he promised me that from that day
onward, it is his responsibility to make sure that I turn out to be a pro
swimmer. This promise of his filled me with great enthusiasm and optimism, and today
I pursue swimming as a professional sport.
