The Best Day Ever!

All of us have all kind of days – good, bad, weird, mad, crazy, shining, rainy, and what not! And all these kind of days have absolutely different kind of impact upon us. Some of them leave us totally super charged, while some of them make us totally lazy, some of such days are just about smiling all day long, and some of them leave us with a teary eye; but what makes the biggest difference as to how we feel on a particular day and treat ourselves is the kind of company we have on a given day. The company, the people around us, makes all the difference. No matter how hard a day is on us, having a pal by your side, who has the ability to make you smile no matter what will have you sail through the day, and similarly, merely coming across with someone, whose face should not be even remembered on what you consider to be the happiest day of yours on this planet, will have all the joy and cheerfulness drained out of you in less than a nano second.

It was the last day at college, and with all the excitement to finally having coming across the time when text books can be parted ways with, the heart felt a lot heavy with the thought of having to have part ways with the gang also, because for all these years of college, friends were everything. There was a world of its own within our small gang. Truth has its own way of introducing you to the strangest discoveries. With this thought in head an a heavy heart all of us were wishing each-other best of luck for future and were sharing probably the longest hugs ever, but then there I had by my side the best man of my life – Dad. Its not that it has to be said because he is my father, but because he actually is the best man of my life. He guessed it right in just one go as to what was going in my head and heart, and that I was about to blow up even on the most miniscule topic of this universe just because I had to part ways with my gang, and what was worse was the fact that I was totally helpless about it. He gave me all the space I could have asked for, waited endlessly at the hostel lobby while I was hugging my pillows for one last time before making a final exit from the hostel. And when we drove off from my adobe of half a decade, all of which was running past my eyes like a fast-forwarded movie, he declared that the night is going to be spent me clubbing with my friends, and even having my Dad joining in for club-hopping! What more one could ever ask for!!! And then is when I realized that this is life, and this is the time to #StartANewLife.

When the thundering skies treated me with a custom-made smile...

After the end of a tiring day, especially when one of such days has happened to you at the end of the financial year at your firm, where you have to close all the accounts for the year bidding goodbye, streamline all the contracts for the next financial year, meet deadlines, people and then some important people, attend endless number of meetings, fill yourself up with a cold salad-like working lunch, you know that the day has taken its toll on you; and no matter that you are the one who have been crowned as the “Employee of the Month” and the “Employee of the Year” awards for uncountable number of times, and that you can walk in heels for fourteen hours a days like people walk on wet sand at the beaches, you are tend to be worn out, physically, mentally and sometimes even emotionally too, if your boss has given you a nice lecture on corporate tactics, which was totally un-welcomed.

We all, at one point or the other in life, have had days like these, which all of us hate equally, and just do not want to come across at times, but unfortunately, not all are granted with the wishes asked for, and so, there it was – the dreaded day of the financial year’s end’s closing, and as expected, it was not a very pleasant one, even to start with. Like it is said that well begun is half done, there is also an unsaid version of this saying, and which goes like – A screwed up beginning means a more screwed up end, and perhaps it is this version which is more practical and is commonly applicable to people, at least to people like us. And that was how, the dreaded day was spent, and a generous dosage of an absolutely unnecessary lecture from the same person who has awarded you with the “Employee of the Year” award for the third time (and second time in a row), seems totally out of place and grossly irrelevant. But if this is what destiny has planned for you on a particular day, there is no other way that you are going to have a different way than this.

Having gone through all of this, the moment a step was stepped out of office, it started drizzling, which, in the first place, if does nothing else, makes sure that one is made sure to believe that the next best thing that is going to happen is the Death God arriving to adopt one that very moment, but the same very moment what catches the attention of the eyesight is the poor kids in the street jumping with joy with the droplets of the rainwater touching their faces and they stretching their hands out of the tent feeling those droplets on their palms, which to these set of tired eyes looked like a refreshed way of experiencing life, a new life entrusted to this tired soul by this sudden drizzle in the city which has occurred in the city absolutely out of the blue defying all the weather forecasting apps and perhaps even the meteorological department’s announcements. And the moment those heels were taken off and the perfectly pedicured feet touched the rain water on the ground, the soul was struck with a new strike of hope and optimism for the rest of the days to come and taking them heads on.
